CALENDAR GIRL

Nancy Pearl nation continues. First a best-selling author, then an action figure and LJ columnist, the now retired director of the Washington Center for the Book has created a calendar. Sasquatch Books is marketing Book Lust 2005: A Reader's Calendar (ISBN 1-57061-430-X) based on Pearl's best-selling volume. Portraying a book per month, the day planner features David Belisle's photographs, e.g., Fast Food Nation (Eric Schlosser) on a lunch counter and Why We Buy (Paco Underhill) being read by a woman on a busy street. The calendar offers a brief synopsis for each title, with discussion questions, plus a "Pearl's Picks" sidebar listing additional titles connected to national celebrations held during that month.
