Weiland Beats Drug Rap

velvet Revolver frontman Scott Weiland, 37, was cleared of a drug charge by a judge in Pasadena, California, on July 12th. The judge cited Weiland's progress in a court-ordered rehab program. "After endless negative headlines, it's nice to finally have public redemption," says Weiland, velvet Revolver are scheduled to headline the last eight dates on Ozzfest in place of Iron Maiden, beginning August 23rd, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Diamond Dave to Replace Stern?

Rumors are circulating that David Lee Roth will replace Howard Stern when the DJ leaves Infinity Broadcasting for Sirius satellite radio at the end of the year. Stern acknowledged the rumor when he aired a hoax segment called the David Lee Roth Show on July 18th, in which comic Billy Mira impersonated Roth. Karen Mateo, vice president of communication for Infinity, says no decision on Stern's replacement has been made. "We're talking to a number of people," she says. Roth's manager had no comment.

Jacko Sued Over Beatles Fees

A financial firm that secured more than $500,000 in loans for Michael Jackson has sued the singer for allegedly failing to pay $48 million in fees. The loans were intended to help Jackson hold on to publishing rights for the Beatles catalog and his own songs.

Hall Postpones Tour Due to Illness

Hall and Dates frontman Daryl Hall, 55, was diagnosed with Lyme disease on the Fourth of July weekend, forcing him to cancel fourteen shows while he recovers at home in upstate New York. He is expected to perform on August 6th in Toledo, Ohio.

LL Remakes Fatal Attraction

LL Cool J has signed a production deal with Lions Gate Films to use LL's "creative vision to produce commercially viable movies for the urban market," according to his manager Jason Barrett. The first film is an urban remake of 1987's Fatal Attraction.

Producer Arrested for Pot

Dave Newfeld, producer for Canadian indie-rock band Broken Social Scene, was arrested July 14th in New York for attempting to buy marijuana from an undercover policeman in Washington Square Park. Newfeld claims he was beaten by the cops during his arrest.

Kid Rock Beds Down in Nashville

Detroit rap-rocker Kid Rock bought a three-story, $800,000 condominium in Nashville's west End neighborhood. The 2,814-square-foot condo has marble bathrooms, an elevator and three fireplaces.

Village People Policeman Busted

Victor Edward Willis, the original cop in the Village People, was arrested July nth in Daly city, California, after police found a loaded gun and crack cocaine in his car during a routine traffic stop. He was charged with six felony counts and released the next day on $100,000 bail.
