Cherokee National Historical Society adds to board of trustees


Roy Hamilton of Stilwell has been elected president of the Cherokee National Historical Society's board of trustees. Other officers include Mary Ellen Meredith, Oklahoma City, vice president; Gean Atkinson, Atkinson Advertising Associates, Oklahoma City, as secretary; and Jack Baker, president, National Trail of Tears Association, Oklahoma City, treasurer.

Newly elected board members are Larry Adair, president, Arvest Bank, Stilwell; Stacey Leeds, justice, Cherokee Nation Judicial Appeals Tribunal, Tahlequah; Neil Morton, president, Morton Co. Educational Consulting, Stilwell; Robert Shearer, vice president, Tribal First, Rancho Santa Fe, N.M.; and Paul Westbrook, dean, Northeastern State University College of Liberal Arts.

Other board members are John W. Adair, CEO, Adair Investment, Broken Arrow; K.S. "Bud" Adams Jr., Houston Charities, Houston; Beverly Adkisson, president, Bank of America, Tahlequah; Betty Starr Barker, retired teacher, Stilwell; Charles "Chief" Boyd, Thalden-Boyd Architects, Oklahoma City; Bob Cunningham, retired business owner, Tahlequah; Patricia Edgar, retired from the Internal Revenue Service,, Atlanta; Meredith A.
