COLORADO SPRINGS DISTRICT PLANS TO ISSUE $3.9 MILLION RFP FOR SOFTWARE

The Colorado Springs, CO, School District #11 this month plans to issue an RFP for software vendors to provide the district with $3.9 million worth of instructional software, Terry Bishop, chief information officer for the district, told EER last week. Colorado Springs is the fourth-largest district in Colorado with 33,000 students enrolled.

"The district will only seriously consider candidates whose software is aligned with the Colorado Content Standards-a set of software curriculum standards that was developed several years ago by the Colorado Department of Education," said Dr. Bea Allen, executive director of curriculum for the district.

District employees are currently evaluating what type of software the district needs. However, the district plans to purchase instructional software for all grade levels and all subjects, she said.
