Girls, boys and Seagram's.Navigation: Main page Author: Anthony, Florence Go with the Flo:
THERE'S a whole lot of loving going on out here. First of all, sources tell me that Vanessa L. Williams and Rick Fox are not divorcing. Word is, the couple, who have one daughter together, are trying to save their marriage. In fact, they just returned from a two-week family vacation together in the Bahamas where the very handsome Rick is from. SECONDLY, Denzel Washington and wife Pauletta celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary at the Miramonte Resort & Spa in Palm Springs. They spent time together and had a romantic dinner at Ristorante Brissago. IT looks like Halle Berry and Michael Ealy, the fine blue-eyed brother in the "Barbershop" movies, who also portrayed DMX's son in "Never Die Alone," are doing a little more than having meals together at the Ivy in Beverly Hills. They were photographed together leaving a spot called La Conversation. Then, on July 5, the coo-some twosome was spotted having breakfast at Hugo's in Hollywood. From there, they took a drive to the beach in Palos Verdes where they did a bit of canoodling. Michael plays Halle's love interest Tea Cake in the upcoming made-for-TV movie "Their Eyes Were Watching God," based on the Zora Neale Hurston novel. According to the story-line, "fair-skinned, long-haired Janie [Halle] grows up expecting better treatment than she gets until she meets Tea Cake, a younger man who engages her heart and spirit in equal measure and gives her a chance to enjoy life without being one man's mule or adornment." Let's hope life imitates art. BOTH Holly Robinson Peete â€" who recently announced she and Rodney Peete are expecting their fourth child â€" and Vivica A. Fox are going to be bridesmaids in Star Jones and Al Reynolds' wedding, which the ladies say will take place in November. Meanwhile, Vivica recently played the dutiful bridesmaid by flying from Toronto â€" where she films Lifetime TVs "Missing" â€" to the Hamptons for Star and Al's engagement party at B. Smith's Restaurant in Sag Harbor. Barbara, as I call B., created a special drink for the evening called "Star-tini." MY favorite festival in the world â€" the ABFF (American Black Film Festival) â€" takes place July 14-18 on South Beach in Miami. The parties got going immediately. To celebrate the screening of his new movie, "Love, Sex and Eating Bones," Hill Harper, who's now on "CSI: New York," tossed a bash at Mynt. His guests included Gabrielle Union; Sanaa Lathan; Malinda Williams of "Soul Food"; Rockmond Dunbar; and Essence Atkins of "Half & Half." The evening was sponsored by Level Vodka. Other festival parties include publicist Marvet Britto and Martell Cognac hosting a VIP Reception in honor of producer/director Lee Daniels' new film "The Woodsman" at the Sagamore Hotel. And "Gotham Diaries" authors Tonya Lewis Lee and Crystal McCrary Anthony are celebrating their novel at Rumi. Their hosts include Tonya's hubby, Spike Lee, Vin Diesel and basketball player Brian Grant. Meanwhile, Martell Cognac, which has been a long-time supporter of independent Black film, will sponsor the festival's closing night bash at the Opium Garden and two networking receptions at the host hotel, the Royal Palm. With all that liquor floating around Miami, I have to get my Seagrams Orange Twisted Gin in there somewhere...
