Campaign Finance. Rep. Virgil Goode, R-Va., announced Monday that he was giving $88,000 in campaign donations from defense contractor MZM to charity and nonprofit groups in his district, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported. The firm's former president recently was implicated in a bribery case involving former Rep. Randy (Duke) Cunningham, R-Calif. While defending the donations as proper, Goode said he believed that "the funds can benefit a number of organizations that help many persons" in the district. The two Democrats who are seeking the right to challenge Goode next year continued to criticize the lawmaker. "He's doing about the only thing he can do. It's not enough. The question is, why did MZM give him that much money?" asked vintner Al Weed, a Democratic challenger. in the Fair Use guidelines of the 1976 U.S. Copyright Act. info [at] singlearticles.com Powered by CommonSense |
