Internet security program debuts.Navigation: Main page Author: Violino, Bob Section: Top Of The Week
The computer emergency Response Team, a nonprofit group that monitors and advises on Internet security threats, has begun offering, for a fee, priority service in fending off attacks that come in over the Internet. The CERT Affiliates Program will provide incident response, training, and information on computer security for $25,000 a year. CERT, based at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, says about 30 companies already have expressed interest in the service. CERT will continue to provide limited incident response services at no charge to companies not enrolled in the fee-based program. Demand for CERT's assistance has always been greater than its resources, and the rapid growth of the Internet has made the problem worse. ~~~~~~~~ By Bob Violino in the Fair Use guidelines of the 1976 U.S. Copyright Act. info [at] singlearticles.com Powered by CommonSense |
