Gracing the growing computer security product market is RealSecure, IP-oriented software from Internet Security Systems (ISS) that offers real-time monitoring, recognition attack and response functionality. This product looks at packets traveling across the network, including IP destination addresses and ports. When monitoring Internet traffic, it recognizes unauthorized activity such as SYN flooding and unknown IP protocols. In turn, the response engine logs the event and sends a warning message to the administrator or terminates the connection. When terminating, RealSecure spoofs the addresses of both ends, sending reset (RST) packets to abort the connection. A VCR playback facility can record an entire traffic session on disk and replay the activity so you virtually can see the hacker's keystrokes. You can monitor and track specific subnets as well. For internal attacks, deploy RealSecure on the subnet and for external attacks, deploy it behind the firewall. RealSecure works with Linux and Solaris.
