HEALTH CAREShore Health System named Brian Cotter director of pharmacy, responsible for the operation of the hospital pharmacies at Dorchester General Hospital and The Memorial Hospital at Easton and the 40 staff members who provide patient care. Cotter relocated to the Easton from Buffalo, N.Y., where he was director of pharmacy for Roswell Park Cancer Institute.Dr. Brian Berman, founder and director of the University of Maryland Center for Integrative Medicine, won the prestigious Bravewell Leadership Award for Integrative Medicine. Dr. Berman's award was announced at a gala dinner in New York City. The Bravewell Collaborative presents the $100,000 award to an innovator in the field of integrative medicine, which emphasizes patient-centered treatment focusing on the whole patient â€" mind, body and spirit.Linda Smeyne joined the Johns Hopkins Children's Center as director of the Office of Development. She is responsible for coordinating all fund raising efforts in support of the research, teaching and patient care mission of the children's hospital. Leading a staff of seven, she will be responsible for managing a $225 million capital campaign ($100 million of which is targeted for philanthropy) to build a new 530,000-square-foot children's hospital at Johns Hopkins, slated for groundbreaking in early summer 2006.The Center for Integrative Medicine hired certified massage therapist Cathy Miller. Her practice includes therapeutic massage, acupressure, process acupressure and shiatsu. She also conducts workshops and seminars on stress relief.
