Nearly 60 million American adults are using Internet search engines on a typical day, according to tracking surveys published by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. This means that the number of search engine users on an average day jumped from roughly 38 million in June 2004 to about 59 million in September 2005--an increase of approximately 55 percent. The most heavily used search engines in October 2005 were: Google (89.8 million unique visitors), Yahoo! Search (68 million), MSN Search (49.7 million), Ask Jeeves (43.7 million), and AOL Search (36.1 million).
