Practice talking to adults in front of a mirror. Act like you're talking to an adult. After a while, you'll realize that it's not that much different from talking to your friends or your parents.

When you are around an adult, imagine that that person is someone in your family or a friend of yours. I do that, and it helps me overcome my shyness.

Talk to a friend about your problem. Then, have a conversation with your friend's parents and see how you do. You could practice with your friend's parents. If you believe you can talk to adults, you will succeed.

Talk to your parents about your shyness around adults. They can give you hints about how to act around adults. They can tell you how they feel when young people talk to them.

When you're around adults, make eye contact and smile. A nice smile informs anyone that you're willing to be friends. You can say a few words to start a conversation. I was shy, but those actions helped me.

Start by trying to have a conversation with an adult twice a week. Try to imagine him or her being a peer and not an adult. After a while, things will get better. It just takes time.
