SNEAK PEAK AT THE FALL LINEUP.Navigation: Main page Author: Gliatto, Tom Section: Picks & Pans | TV
Each May, the networks gather advertisers together in New York City and dazzle them with presentations of the shows on the fall schedule. Here are some new series with potential oomph.HEROES Selling point: Sexy young people endowed with inexplicable superpowers. The Peace Corps could use some kids like that. 30 ROCK Selling point: SNL as a sitcom. Tina Fey, Tracy Morgan and Alec Baldwin in a sharp-looking show about a Saturday Night Live-like program. Oddly enough, there's also STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP SNL as a classy comedy-drama from Aaron Sorkin. Comeback show for Matthew Perry. SIX DEGREES Selling point: A new drama from Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams, although it looks like it's more about the gentle twists of karma. Fantastic cast: Campbell Scott, Hope Davis and Jay Hernandez. LET'S ROB… Selling point: Mick Jagger is the robbee, and actually pops up. Donal Logue and a team of dreamers scheme to break into his apartment. JERICHO Selling point: Brooding, apocalyptic story with a nuclear mushroom cloud. That ripping sound is me opening a bag of chips in time for the title credits. THE CLASS Selling point: From one of the creators of Friends. So maybe it's the new Friends? About the fallout from a grade school class reunion. Nice big ensemble. JUSTICE Selling point: Glossy, behind-the-scenes drama about high-profile criminal cases. It looks like Nancy Grace's idea of TV heaven. VANISHED Selling point: A senator's wife disappears, and it turns into a Da Vinci Code cabal mystery. I think … RUNAWAY Selling point: The Fugitive, family style. This is one of only two new shows on the CW's premiere lineup. Mostly it's hits from the dissolving WB and UPN, including Veronica Mars and America's Next Top Model.
