TO KNOW LIST 6: They're money in the bank.Navigation: Main page Author: Deveney, Sean Section: KNOW IT ALLBIG SCORERS
Even among the league's final four, there are some big-name players who have an eye on the offseason. Why? Money, of course. Joe Johnson, Suns. Johnson will be a restricted free agent and was on his way to racking up a big contract with his excellent play in the postseason. Then he injured his eye in the second round â€" and his value went up. Phoenix's ballhandling and perimeter defense suffered without him. Robert Horry, Spurs. Horry can opt out of his contract this summer, but at age 34, coming off a regular season in which he averaged only 6.0 points, that seemed unlikely a month ago. However, Horry is showing that he still is a terrific producer in the postseason, raising his scoring and rebounding and playing solid defense on Amare Stoudemire. Udonis Haslem, Heat. A former second-round pick, Haslem is in a position similar to the one Carlos Boozer was in last year â€" under current rules, which could change when a new collective bargaining agreement comes, the Heat can pay him only up to the midlevel exception ($5.3 million). That's about Haslem's value, but a good June could boost his stock.
