Wholesale Prices Increased In June.Navigation: Main page Author: Unknown Section: Economy
Wholesale prices rose 0.6 percent in June, led by the biggest jump in gasoline and other energy costs in three months and a record increase in residential natural gas prices, the Labor Department reported today. The advance in its Producer Price Index, which measures inflation pressures before they reach consumers, came after prices were flat in May. The gain in June marked the biggest increase in wholesale prices since a 0.9 percent rise in March, and came from an 11.8 percent rise in gasoline prices, also the largest increase since March. Meanwhile, the Commerce Department reported retail sales in June rose by a slightly bigger-than-expected 0.5 percent in June, but just by 0.2 percent when the volatile automobiles sales category was excluded. And the Federal Reserve reported that industrial production rose an 0.2 percent in June, the slowest pace since September. in the Fair Use guidelines of the 1976 U.S. Copyright Act. info [at] singlearticles.com Powered by CommonSense |
